For my final semester of college, I will be taking the module Media Discourse and Analysis. Media Discourse and Analysis refers to critically considering the impact and connotations that media, mediums and mediators (re)present to us. Through analysing relevant and current media artefacts, media content and the information presented to us, we can discuss the true meaning behind their production, what messages the authors want to convey to the general public and how the medium can often be the message (McLuhan, Fiore, 1967).
The module contains three continuous assessments, one of which is a group project. Over the course of the next 12 weeks, I will be learning about Media Discourse, why we analyse the media, what approaches we can take when doing this, Meaning, and Narrative Structures.
I think this will be a very interesting module and I look forward to getting into the meat of it!
