A small fly that decided to land on a flower I was going to photograph.
I often wonder if this is how H.P Lovecraft envisioned the human race’s place in the cosmos? The fly on that flower was completely oblivious to me as I stood towering over him, trying to get a photo for my blog.
The whole idea behind most of Lovecraft’s work is that we are infinitely too small for the Old Ones to even care about us. We only live on the planet that they used to own. In the grand scheme of things, we have only been around for the last few thousand years and yet, we are still in our infancy.
Of course, when the fly gazes upon me, he doesn’t go crazy like most of the characters in Lovecraft’s work.
I’ve been reading a lot of Lovecraft lately, so apologies for the analogy! Enjoy the photo everyone and have a good weekend!
